Friday Poll ~ What Kind of Posts Do You Want To See?

Let’s look at the results of last week’s poll first—Point of View ~ for Readers & Writers.

Vote for the kind of posts you want to see on this blog

And, a brief example of what Point of View (POV) means:

First Person: “I couldn’t believe what I saw.”
Second Person: “You won’t believe what you see.”
Third Person: “Seeing the miracle didn’t make him believe it.”

For the Readers’ poll:

3rd Person got 54.6%
1st Person got 45.4%
2nd Person got 0%

For the Writers’ poll:

3rd Person — 60%
1st Person — 30%
2nd Person — 10%

Now, this week’s poll—What Kind of Posts Do You Want to See on This Blog?

Naturally, multiple votes are possible; and, the “Other” space is there for answers I haven’t put in the poll

Friday Poll ~ Point of View ~ for Readers & Writers

First come the results of last week’s poll—Where Are You In Your Writer’s Journey?

Point of View In Writing

Most-voted-for saw a four-way tie

* Wondering If I Can Be A Writer; Still Thinking About What To Write; Doing Research; and, Writing A First Draft.

There was a three-way tie for the next-most-voted-for:

* Doing Revisions; Working On The Tasks of Self-Publishing; and, Promoting A Book.

Then came “Other”:

* “trying to write with an authentic voice”

And, there was one Comment:

* “I think many writers, no matter where they are on their writer’s journey, find themselves at some stage, staring at the wall/ceiling/keyboard/the cat/cup of sustaining beverage and wondering if they can be a writer… even Shakespeare…”

~~~~~~~~~
Now, for this week’s topic—Point of View (or, POV).
There are separate polls for Reading and Writing—and, some of you will vote in both
I’m only supplying the most common points-of-view:
First Person: “I couldn’t believe what I saw.”
Second Person: “You won’t believe what you see.”
Third Person: “Seeing the miracle didn’t make him believe it.”
If you want a quick primer of the common points-of-view, try Grammar Girl’s
If these polls spark your interest in knowing about other POVs, try this article by Kelly Leiter
For those of you who are aware of or use other points-of-view, there is the “Other” Space
And, multiple votes are permissible :-)
Friday Poll ~ What’s Your Favorite Place To Read?
As usual, I’ll first give the results from last week’s poll—What’s Your Writing Space?
What's Your Favorite Place To Read?
We had only 8 responses but they’re quite interesting…
“where I set down my MacBook Pro…”
“A dive diner is my favorite, but I have many!”
“tiny room, butt load of books, gigantic desk, pc, paper, pens, comfy chair”
“Mine is a Cave/Apartment”
“little red desk in the living room, looking into the (ahem, untended) garden”
“My Writer’s Space is inside me. Meditation, good music etc help unlock the door.”
“small desk in studio apt.”
“I work at my trusty laptop situated in a loft office at home…but when I’m stuck, I have to get away to a coffee shop with an old-fashioned pen and pad.”
~~~~~~~~~

This week’s poll is the complement to last week’s—What’s Your Favorite Reading Space?

Just type your response into the “Other” space in the poll, then hit the “Vote” button :-)

A Poll About Polls

Getting feedback on a blog isn’t necessary if the blogger’s motivated by a strong sense of service.

But it is nice to know what readers feel and think…

I’m feeling like I should start a new kind of post—the Friday Poll.

But, I need to give you a poll to see what you want…

I’m stopping the Friday Fantasies (they’ll still be available to read here) but I’ll soon be publishing them as an e-book.

So, simple poll today—you’re choice of four alternatives—but…

There’s a place in the poll called “other”.

If you vote “Strongly Agree” or “Agree”, do, please, put something in “other”—what kind of poll you’d like to see…

Here we go:

Reading, Writing, Publishing ~ What Are You Interested In?

I’ve been blogging for 3½ years about Reading, Writing, and Publishing.

~~~
Because bloggers can’t always count on enough comments to make decisions about what their readers want, we often have polls and surveys—hoping to entice folks to provide feedback.
~~~

And, because yesterday’s experimental post didn’t draw as many comments as I’d hoped, I’m including a very short and easy survey today.

~~~
It’s only up for a week so jump right in;
and, be sure to tell your friends about it.
Multiple Answers Are Welcomed :-)
