A Sense of Proportion . . .

No re-blog today—I’ve known about something and seen a rational article about it—there needs to be a heightened awareness from Readers, Writers, and Publishers (it also needs action, though most of us, individually, couldn’t muster what’s necessary). National Endowment for the Arts

There are three organizations that are vital for my country’s future (I’m hoping that folks not from the U. S. A. will leave a comment if they’re aware of parallel organizations in their own countries...).

These organizations are in danger of having their funding cut…

National Endowment for the Arts

National Endowment for the Humanities

Corporation for Public Broadcasting

The rational article about the threat to these organizations is from Melville House and it’s called, What Cuts at the NEA, NEH, and CPB Will Mean for Humanities, Journalism and Arts in America.

Just a few excerpts (to help you decide to go read the full article…):

“The money that gets allotted to these groups is a drop in the giant bucket that is the annual US budget.”

“…if you make $50,000 a year, spending the equivalent of what the government spends on these three programs would be like spending less than $10.”

“…these cuts ‘should alarm every American who has ever used a library, visited a museum, attended a college or university, watched public television, or listened to a public radio station.’”

I, personally, am hoping and praying these institutions can retain their funding………
