Notes from An Alien

~ Explorations In Reading, Writing, and Publishing ~

Finding that sweet moment in the beginning of the book.

Today’s re-blog may be short but what’s recommended could help you for many years to come :-)

Sarah K. L. Wilson

I’ve been reading Sol Stein On Writing and learning so much. One thing he teaches writers to do is to read books they admire and look for the moment when you as a reader decide that you won’t put the book down- that one sweet spot where you are truly hooked. I’ve been reading books with that in mind and noticing for the first time when a story turns on. I recommend this to all readers. It’s eye opening to see what character or theme might be the real start if the story.
