The #Reading of #Writers (and, an Editor…)

There’s a website called The Millions that says it’s “…an online magazine offering coverage on books, arts, and culture since 2003.” The Reading of Writers

And, 12 years in Internet time is a looong while

Plus, the The New York Times calls it The indispensable literary site”.

It appears I’ve reported on articles from The Millions seven times over the years

And, since my post the other day was, Is There Such a Thing as Reading Too Many Books?, I thought it appropriate to feature The Millions here again.

They have a series of articles with writers (and, one editor) talking about their reading over this past year of 2015.

Here are their bios from The Millions (with their article about their reading linked to their name)

ALEXANDER CHEE is the author of the novels Edinburgh and the forthcoming The Queen of the Night (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Fall/Winter 2013). He is the recipient of a Whiting Writers’ Award, the NEA in Fiction, and fellowships from the MacDowell Colony and Civitella Ranieri. He is currently the Picador Professor of the University of Leipzig.

CHIGOZIE OBIOMA was born in Nigeria. A recipient of Hopwood awards in fiction and poetry, his works have appeared in Virginia Quarterly Review and Transition. His debut novel, The Fishermen, was published in April 2015 by Little, Brown, and is being published in 12 other countries. He is an Assistant Professor of English and Creative Writing at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

ANNE K. YODER is a staff writer for The Millions. Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in Fence, Bomb, and Tin House, among other publications. She has received fellowships from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Summer Literary Seminars. She currently lives in Chicago.

THOMAS BECKWITH is a Social Media and Previews Editor for The Millions. A native of Baltimore, he worked in New York for three years before leaving to pursue a Master’s degree in Irish literature. You can find him on Twitter at @tdbeckwith.

MICHAEL SCHAUB is a staff writer for The Millions. He is the co-host of The Book Report, a freelance writer and book critic, and a regular contributor to NPR and the Los Angeles Times. His writing has appeared in The Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, The Portland Mercury, and The Austin Chronicle, among other publications. He lives in Austin.

EMILY ST. JOHN MANDEL is a staff writer for The Millions. Her most recent novel, Station Eleven, was a 2014 National Book Awards finalist. She is married and lives in Brooklyn.
