WordPress Can’t Re-Blog & Amazon Has A Soul?

I recently reset my blogging schedule to more neatly accommodate the rest of my writing-life…

I research and write an original blog post on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday—the other days of the week I re-blog

Well, it’s Thursday and, for no known reason, I can’t find the re-blog buttons

[ Edit after publication: WordPress changed the location of the buttons and, for no known reason, I didn’t see an “alert” about the change…]

So, to bow to my responsibility to my readers, I’m pausing my other writing tasks to manually say:

Check out Jo Robinson’s post, Amazon—she’s trying her hand at Flash Fiction and would appreciate some feedback

Unfortunately, you are misinforming people about reblog buttons. They do not appear on the Admin bar anymore, but we can enable them to appear at the bottom of our posts and pages. Please return to your support forum thread.

At least you have a reblog button. When you get your own self-hosted site wordpress.org, there is no reblog button. Readers can copy with their own ‘press this’ tool, just as I have to do to capture blog material I’d like to reblog. I can’t believe in this day and age that nobody can create a reblog button for self hosters. :(

I can’t believe it either, D. G.—perhaps there is one out there, hiding in plain sight?? :-)

When I first moved to my own site, there was a plugin called ‘repost’ but sometime last year it became nonfuctional and the owner of the plugin deactivated it. I’ve had to learn to work the ‘press this’ tool from my dashboard and I’m good with it. I’ve also written a few posts about ‘press this’ to inform bloggers about its function, especially when I’d often be asked why there’s no reblog button on my blog. Still, I don’t think everyone understands the concept. . . You can lead a horse to water! :)
