Is Blog Traffic Something That Takes Hard Work?

I’ve been blogging for around 8 years—3.5 on this blog.

Blog Traffic

I’ve tried many things to encourage folks to visit.

Most of them seemed extremely artificial…

I write the best content I possibly can—posts that have what I consider Value for the reader.

I don’t look at my Stats much anymore—just plugging away, saying what I feel I must say…

I thought it might be interesting to ask my readers what they’d like to see me do.

I’ve had many polls here—recently started a special Friday Poll—not for what I should post but other, more interesting topics.

This post will only succeed if I have a bunch of my 168 followers make a Comment—even very a brief Comment…

What direction do you wish I’d take on this blog?

Well, your blog is one of the few that I stick with – others come and go. I tried putting all my thoughts on my blog and found that only some of them created any interest and a very few had comments. Advice is to stick to one subject so I’ll try to keep with books but I might stray if I find a good photo. I thought I might get drawn into conversations but, so far, it hasn’t happened and I refuse to go back to twitter. Maybe it’s a good thing as it takes up time which I should be spending writing.Keep at it. It livens up the week.

Thank you, so much, for your encouragement of what I’m trying to do here :-)

And, I’m not super concerned with comments as long as I know folks are reading the blog…

I’ve used Twitter in the past but, yes, it can be a time drain—now I use it mostly to post links to my blog posts…

Most bloggers (not you) have an unwritten law: Don’t even hint at disagreeing with me on my own blog. With this pervasive happy-happy attitude, nothing can be discussed. These Happy Only Bloggers (as a dominant group) unwittingly eliminate 95% of comments and any possibility of a genuine conversation with readers.

I think a popular blog is fueled, not by what the writer wrote or even by the truth, but by a whirlpool of nayers and yaers. Followers who feel free to say what they want and argue among themselves while the blogger, strategically, stays out of the fight.

It’s all about entertainment. If you remember, there have been times when I tried to stir up some controversy on your blog. ;) Been a while, hey.
