Blogging Behind The 8-Ball . . .

Blogging 5 days a week for over 3 years is something I wouldn’t have guessed I’d do—4 years ago :-)

Finding material is critical to my job—though, I do cheat a bit lately by writing my own original Fantasy stories every Friday.

Some days, like today, I sit here for quite awhile, paging through my voluminous bookmarks, trying to determine my angle of attack

Reading Writing Publishing Fantasy

Well, drop Fantasy from the list since, when I’m doing my own creative writing, rather than reporting about others’ ideas, the words just flow and I’m not entangled in the efforts of proper-linking and html-niceties and objectivity.

So, attempting to sink that ol’ 8-ball today turned out to be featuring, yet again, Jane Friedman and introducing Dave Bricker.

Jane is an indefatigable educator, public-speaker, and blogger—and, her name-link up there will lead you to nearly 30 past posts featuring her valuable ideas.

She recently started The Smart Set—a weekly—well, let me allow Jane to tell you:

“Welcome to the weekly The Smart Set, where I curate new smart reads about the publishing and media industry. I also point to issues and questions raised, and welcome you to respond or ask your own questions in the comments. ‘To seek: to embrace the questions, be wary of answers.’ —Terry Tempest Williams”

She makes my 5-days-a-week look like a walk in the park :-)

Now, to deal with Dave—“…author of fiction and nonfiction, editor, graphic designer, interactive developer, and design educator.”—blogging at The World’s Greatest Book.

I’d had an article of his stored away in my bookmarks for quite awhile—Not Selling Books? Did you do the Math?—which is a Fantastically Valuable Read!

But, let me list his blogging categories:

So, another week of blogging about Reading, Writing, and Publishing has begun and I hope you agree that I sunk that 8-ball in the side pocket :-)
