I loved Jane Friedmans’ approach to breaking up long term goals into smaller tasks. I also loved her Weekly Goal Sheet – I am in the process of making my own:-) Some folks may also like to read this book: ‘A Writer’s Time: Making the Time to Write’, by Kenneth Atchity (but follow Friedman’s advice and don’t substitute it for writing;-) or take a look at the Pomodoro Technique – http://www.pomodorotechnique.com/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomodoro_Technique
for breaking up long writing sessions into manageable steps…:-)
Yes, Jane, doncha just luv it when someone doesn’t have time to write ’cause they’re readin’ ’bout how ta write?? :-)
Seems like Pomodoro and Scrivener could get along quite well…
Loved her attitude about play (not procrastination, even though I consider this as ‘taking a breath’ also if not extreme), and not being guilty about it. I learned to take her advice long ago about having to ‘stop doing something’ also. Unfortunately it was visual art, but I was never very good at it anyway and hope that I’m better at writing, which I can’t ever give up one way or another.
Dear, Barbara — As a writer you still paint with words, right??
